Susie Ghahremani is an award-winning illustrator, an internationally exhibiting artist, entrepreneur, designer and advocate for the illustration community. She is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) where she also has taught.

In addition to illustrating for commercial and editorial clients, Ghahremani designs and develops a whimsically illustrated stationery and gift brand titled Boygirlparty® consisting of more than 500 products, popular at independent boutiques and galleries to retailers such as ModCloth, Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters and Nordstrom. Boygirlparty® is also currently ranked among the bestsellers in Art on Etsy.comHer uniquely illustrated and functional paper goods are what Flavorpill calls “The indie, start-up version of Hello Kitty.” BuzzFeed calls Boygirlparty “a shop you wish you knew about sooner.”

She has been awarded and recognized by the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), American Illustration, the Society of Illustrators New York, and the Society of Illustrators Los Angeles, and was profiled in several magazines including The New York Times. She served on the board of ICON the Illustration Conference and won a 2016 Mentorship Award at SCBWI’s annual Portfolio Show. Ghahremani lives and creates art in San Diego, where she was named ambassador for San Diego’s Independent Bookstore Day and was a featured speaker at San Diego’s Festival of Books in 2017, 2018, and 2019. She has spoken at the San Francisco Unified School District, San Diego Public Library, St. Louis Public Library, San Diego Natural History Museum, Mingei Museum, and at ICON the Illustration Conference.

Her Treetops Journal published by Chronicle Books was an international bestseller in its genre, which sold over 100,000 copies. Her picture book WHAT WILL GROW? written by Jennifer Ward, received starred reviews from the School Library Journal, Shelf Awareness, and Publisher’s Weekly and was honored by the Society of Illustrators New York for its Original Art. Her debut as author-illustrator — STACK THE CATS — published by Abrams received many starred reviews, including this from Kirkus: “a book that can expand children’s thought processes.” STACK THE CATS was named a Best Book of 2017 by both Amazon and Kirkus. Her latest books are SHE WANTED TO BE HAUNTED written by Marcus Ewert (Bloomsbury, 2020), LITTLE MUIR’S NIGHT— written by environmental icon John Muir (published by Yosemite Conservancy, 2020), and GROWTH: A journal written and illustrated by Susie Ghahremani (published by Roost Books, 2020)
